Elon Musk’s Take on How to Build the Future

"You want to have a future where you're expecting things to be better, not one where you're expecting things to be worse."

— Elon Musk

It's a good thing when someone does something that benefits the rest of society.

If you're doing something valuable to people, whether it’s something high value or just a game—if it's good for a large number of people, it doesn't have to change the world to be considered good.

AI is likely to be the most significant item affecting humanity in the near future.

It's critical that we have the invention of AI in a positive way. Undeniably, it's something that could go wrong.  And so, we must make every effort to ensure that everything runs as planned.

Genetics is currently the second most important item to have.

Working on AI and ensuring that it has a bright future is one thing. But if we can actually solve genetic diseases, such as dementia or Alzheimer's, with genetic reprogramming, that would be fantastic.

Having a high bandwidth brain interface.

We are currently experiencing bandwidth constraints. We have a digital tertiary self in the form of e-mail, computers, and phone apps. We're effectively superhuman, but we're extremely bandwidth constrained in that interface between the cortex and that tertiary digital form of yourself, and assisting in overcoming that bandwidth constraint would be very important for the future.
