Notes
Humpback whales stay in the northern regions of the Passage from May to September to forage. They typically spend at least 15 weeks in the same location, usually in Glacier Bay or Icy Strait. The majority of tours begin in Juneau or Gustavus. Further south, Ketchikan, Petersburg, and Sitka are additional potential starting points. It's usually a given at that time of year to see a whale. In most cases, you are given a free second trip if you don't get to see one. All year long, orcas reside close to Alaska's coast. They can often be spotted in the numerous fjords, particularly in the summer. Additionally, a large number of gray whales spend the summer feeding in the Gulf of Alaska.
